If you are a registered voter in district 14, we can begin to remove those who voted for this UNCONSTITUTIONAL law which further restricts honest, hardworking business people and will do NOTHING to stop the thieves!!!!! Every bill in my wallet has "THIS BILL IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE" printed on it. That tells me that I can make or receive payment for anything in cash in the United States of America. Now our intelligent elected officials are attempting to take this right away from us. What will be next? If you are in district 14, there is a run-off election on November 22, 2011. I will not be voting for the incumbent in the run-off, as he voted for this legislation. I would rather take my chances on an unknown than re-elect anyone who voted for this ridiculous piece of legislation. Being a small business owner, I have consulted my attorney regarding this piece of legislation, and upon reading the "no cash" clause, he stated that that is unconstitutional and advised me to "call him" if I was arrested for a violation of that clause. He stated that the law will have to be challenged to be overturned. I am prepared to fight for my freedom if need be. I will not be intimidated into being made to feel like a criminal for using cash!

Just an observation, but there were 9 R's and 6 D's sponsoring this bill. Seems like both sides are in on it.

This Bill is just one step closer to a cashless society. This bill needs repealed, and those who sponsored it needs out of office. This bill takes away jobs from mom and pop businesses and lands more resposibility upon tax payers and who the hell is going to enforce this( the garage sale police.) Utterly redicules!!!! These people must have nothing better to do than sit around with their thumb up their butt and come up with ways to screw americans. I am out of words for there are none to describe my frustration and disappointment with our public serpents..oops servants.

Whoever wrote, sponsored or voted for this bill needs to be recalled, picketed, publicly humiliated, screamed at, recalled, have their house rolled, their kids mocked and their posters put on poles in their neighborhoods.

This legistion is totally assenine! It will hurt the mom and pop business and many others that sell second hand items. This bill flew way below the radar of the citizens and it amazes me that the governor signed this trash! Another question I have is who will be policing this, will they have to hire more government employees?... more taxpayer money down the drain! There will be a repeal, the citizens of Louisiana will fight this crap! If your from Louisiana and this doesn't make you mad, you must be dead. BTW, I am having a garage sale on Nov. 12th!

I think, to become a politician, you have to live in your own little dream world. Do they actually think criminals are going to pay any attention to their assenine law? Or could this just be a way for them to track your income a little closer so they can charge you sales and income tax on the money you make at a garage sale? Not only that but every dollar bill I have in my pocket clearly states that "THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE". Thanks to these 15 sponsors we have proven once again that Louisiana can elect some of the most ignorant politicians in the nation. Please remember their names at election time.

So .... if you are a small antique shop that already runs on such small margins in the stellar economy of Louisiana, and you can not afford to give such a large percentage of your sale to a credit card company (Doesn't matter LA is #2 for worst credit and a lot of people can't get credit anyway), and you can not take the risk of taking checks because so many of them you took in the past did not cash and you were unable to recoop the losses. Should you run your business at a loss? Or just shut the doors, fire your employee and get on government assistance until you can find another job in a state with one of the highest poverty rates in the Union. I think my answer is move to a state that won't take my ability to conduct business hostage because the legislators write bills like 4th graders. SHAME ON YOU LOUISIANA.

May I invite every single on of these so called "Representatives" to go for a tour of where these items are stolen and sold. Did they really think for 2 seconds that people exhibiting this behavior cared about their "NO CASH LAW"?????? I've seen drug dealers take gift cards for for God's sake. In these days and times when everyone is looking to find work and income by selling down to the bare minimum to pay their bills, they come up with this garbage. It is hard enough for an AMERICAN to produce a product to sell due to the competition of foreign manufacturing. Our ability to create jobs by our own ambition has just been murdered. Maybe one of those "Representatives" would let me mow their grass or clean their house???????

This bill is a travesty! There are already laws against buying and selling stolen goods. Law abiding citizens should not be burdened with more legislation simply because the government revenue-collection agents (police) are too inept to do it themselves. This will be used as a intimidation tool against average citizens, not as an enforcement tool against real criminals.
